Italian conductor Andrea Gasperin presents a film soundtrack program, featuring works by two legendary film music composers: American John Williams and Italian Ennio Morricone.
Curiously, the program opens with a work not devised for the film: Olympic Fanfare and Theme by Williams, who wrote the music for the 1984 Olympic Games held in Los Angeles. Hymn to the Fallen from the soundtrack of Saving Private Ryan will also be performed and selections from two sagas have become a permanent part of our visual and auditory memories: Star Wars and Indiana Jones.
A broad selection of Morricone’s soundtrack hits will be performed in two arrangements. The first is Celebrating Ennio Morricone; the second, C’era una volta… Sergio Leone (Once Upon a Time: Sergio Leone), looks back at a partnership spanning two decades between the composer and the Italian director, which resulted in six spaghetti Westerns including the iconic The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
