Edward Scissorhands, Tim Burton (USA, 1990)
In Tim Burton's Edward Scissorhands, Edward is a synthetic man with scissor hands. He is taken in by Peg, a kindly Avon lady, after the passing of his inventor. Things take a turn for the worse when he is blamed for a crime he did not commit.
The film is a fascinating recreation of the Frankenstein myth shot like a fairy tale with touches of humor, tenderness and cruelty.
Burton's talent extends to the overall conception of the film, which has been conceived as an intelligent fable about the loneliness of an artist in a stupidly conventional society.
