Eddie Henderson is a living jazz legend on par with the greats of music history.
Born in 1940 in New York, he received his first trumpet lesson from Louis Armstrong when he was just nine years old. His stepfather was a doctor who had Duke Ellington, John Coltrane and Miles Davis, among others, as patients. Henderson made the big leap to the stage in the early 1970s, in Herbie Hancok's Mwandishi sextet.
Later, he went on to collaborate with Pharoah Sanders, Norman Connors and Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers. He has also worked with Elvin Jones, Johnny Griffin, Slide Hampton, McCoy Tyner, Benny Golson, Max Roach, Jackie McClean, Dexter Gordon, Roy Haynes, Joe Henderson, Pharoah Sanders and a long et cetera, in addition to creating an excellent solo discography.
He will perform with his quartet at Barcelona’s Jamboree Jazz Club.
