Celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of esteemed Russian writer and thinker Fyodor Dostoevsky at a special live debate at the CCCB this November.
Writer Tamara Djermanovic and translator Miquel Cabal will converse with writer and philosopher Tatiana Kasatkina via videoconference, discussing the current relevance of Dostoevsky's work. Cabalm (translator of the Catalan version of the novel Crime and Punishment) Djermanovic (Dostoevsky specialist and author), and Director of the Dostoevsky Center of the Russian Academy of Science, Tatiana Kasatkina, will reflect on how Dostoevsky's books continue to challenge us, even in the 21st century.
His literary works explore human psychology in the troubled political and social world of 19th-century Russia. The writing of Fyodor Dostoevsky was always inspired by the complexity of the human soul and his predictions about the future of civilization. He was concerned with the abuse of power and inequality in our society, themes which continue to be relevant today.
