Doña Francisquita is a classic zarzuela and one of the most important of the genre. Thanks to the Fundació Epera a Catalunya, the Cor Amics de Lópera de Sabadell and the Orquestra Simfunica del Valls, zarzuela returns to the Palau de la Música Catalana.

Under the musical direction of Miquel Ortega and the stage direction of Rita Cosentino, you'll hear the love story between Fernando, a music student, and Francisquita, a young upper-class lady, in the voices of the Madrid tenor Enrique Ferrer and the Madrid soprano Ruth Terán.

The music of Doña Francisquita is vibrant, with lyrical passages and joyful choral numbers. Amadeu Vives managed to capture the essence of traditional Spanish music in this score, and the melodies are contagious and enveloping. Songs like "Fotch of the smoke you know where the fire is," and The Nightingale's Song are highly appreciated by the public.

Concert will be subtitles in Spanish.
