In 1927, the Barcelona Symphony Band traveled to Frankfurt to take part in the International Music Exhibition, inaugurated on June 11. Conducted by Joan Lamote de Grignon, it performed eight concerts, featuring a total of 26 different works, mostly by Catalan and Spanish composers.
At the last concert, the well-known composer and orchestral conductor, Richard Strauss, led the band in a performance of his symphonic poem Don Juan, a work transcribed by Lamote de Grignon for the occasion. That same version, revised by José R. Pascual-Vilaplana, is the star feature of this concert.
