Fungi, unlike most organisms on the planet, do not look for food to eat and absorb, but feed from the mycelium: a dynamic underground network that connects plant roots to share nutrients. Human societies are closely related to fungi, as our survival as a species inevitably depends on our intertwined cohabitation.
Contrary to capitalist logic, which promotes the individualism and superiority of the human species over nature, the exhibition addresses the need to rethink ourselves as an animal species and to place ourselves within an inter-species network, to embody that diverse community and involve ourselves actively in nature.
Digest the World Where It Is interweaves a series of works from the 1970s to the present, reflecting the interdependence and sprawling relationships that run through us and sustain life, addressing both the physical and emotional limits of the ecosystems we inhabit as the inherent vulnerability of all living things.
