Two geniuses of Romanticism and two extraordinary sonatas for violin and piano. Russian pianist Denis Kozhukhin offers us a program encompassing the autumnal grace of Franz Schubert—foremost representative of the first great Vienna School and pioneer of European Romanticism—and the virtuoso nationalism of Franz Liszt, a truly cosmopolitan Hungarian. Works by two radically different individuals, but both in their way revolutionary for their time.
Program
- Franz Schubert: Sonata No. 21 in B-flat major, D 960 (1828) 42′
- Franz Liszt: Sonata in B minor, S 178 (1853) 31′
