Cherry Festival in Arenys de Munt
Arens de Munt Arenys de Munt
Every June 24th the Fira de la Cirera d'en Roca takes place in Arenys de Munt to celebrate the cherry harvest.
At the end of the 19th century, the ravages caused by phylloxera decimated the vineyards and forced many to look for work wherever they could. It was a family of miners who went to work in France that found the cherries from the area so good that they decided to bring them home to Arenys de Munt. Now, more than a hundred years later, the fair pays tribute to this yellow and red fruit, sweet and at the same time acidic, which can only be found in the Maresme.
To commemorate the arrival of those first seeds in Arenys de Munt, the City Council organizes this fair where you can buy cherries directly from the producers themselves, taste dishes made with cherries and enjoy a high-quality gastronomic and festive day. There is also a craft fair, workshops, children's activities, a trobada de puntaires (traditional lace-makers' gathering) workshops, competitions, parades and more.
