This is guitarist Bill Frisell’s third visit to the Jazz Festival, after performing "When You Wish Upon A Star" in 2016 and "Music Is" in 2018. In 2016, he appeared with a quartet featuring songs by Petra Haden exploring film and TV soundtracks. In 2018, he took us on an unforgettable journey, solo performances with his guitar that amazed audiences—a real challenge, he confessed. Shortly after this, in 2019, he joined the Blue Note label with a new project, Harmony, also featuring the voice of Petra Haden, and with Hank Roberts (cello, vocals) and Luke Bergman (baritone guitar, vocals). It is with this drummer-less quartet that he is returning to Barcelona. Three recordings that can be seen as a kind of trilogy, combining imaginary with memory, desire and sadness, featuring songs that have been part of Frisell’s life, including Billy Strayhorn’s "Lush Life," the traditional folk song "Red River Valley" and "Where Have All the Flowers Gone," by Pete Seeger. Although, theoretically, he is the only member of the quartet who does not sing, this is not altogether true: his patiently exquisite guitar playing is another voice in the group’s subtle harmony.
