Ben L'Oncle Soul, whose real name is Benjamin Duterde, was born in Tours, France, in 1984. At first his stage name was "Oncle Ben," but he had to change it due to a rights issue with the American rice brand Uncle Ben's.
His fondness for soul and Black music in general not surprising, as he has been listening to it since before he was born; his mother was a passionate music lover. Ben was rocked in his crib to the sounds of Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, and other Motown greats.
A man of many talents, Ben studied Fine Arts and in 2004 began his musical career within a gospel group called Fitiavana. Benjamin is also a great fan of Hip-hop and has collaborated with Oxmo Puccino, Hocus Pocus and Beat Assaillant, among others, accompanying them on stage, and in some cases, writing lyrics for them.
Now, he is coming to Sala La Nau in Barcelona.
