Isabel Buarque de Hollanda Gilberto de Oliveira, known as Bebel Gilberto, is an American-born Brazilian popular singer often associated with bossa nova. She is the daughter of João Gilberto and singer Miúcha.
Until now, Bebel Gilberto, had never covered her father's music (one of the undisputed kings of Brazilian music). She presents her highly anticipated latest album, João, which she defines as "a love letter" to her father.
After the loss of her mother (2018) and her father (2019), and also recently Astrud Gilberto (João's first wife and the voice that amazed the world with "The Girl from Ipanema"), Bebel Gilberto considers that the time has come to recover her roots.
