Any time in spring is a perfect time to visit Barcelona; however, classical music lovers should mark their calendars for March to catch one of the city’s renowned music festivals in the genre: Barcelona Obertura Spring Festival.

Organized by the three main musical institutions of Barcelona—Liceu Opera Barcelona, Palau de la Música Catalana and L’Auditori Barcelona—the festival features18 concerts with well-known names on the national and international scene performing classical music concerts and operas at all three venues throughout the month of March. At the same time, across 23 unique venues, free concerts by local talent will be held in unexpected places such as museums, libraries, neighborhood civic centers, and even historic buildings like Casa Batlló and the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion.
