The Catalan musician Jorge Rossy has been extremely active in Basel, a city where he teaches and participates in several jazz projects.
An example of this is the Aphorism Quartet, a group that was founded in 2013, when Domenic Land, Mchael Beck and Jorge Rossy got together. The double bassist Arne Huber later joined and helped round our their sound. The group's name, Aphorism, responds to the aesthetic intention of the group which is something concise and virtuous that allows different interpretations.
The quartet’s repertoire now includes compositions by each member of the group, which features a contemporary style that includes open structures, clever harmonies, exquisite melodies and elegant rhythms. Catch them live during the 2022 edition of the Mas i Mas Festival.
