Satire, intrigue, incredible stories, passionate love affairs and a good dose of humor. All this combined with music full of color and rhythm is what defines the zarzuela. The Barcelona Symphonic Band brings you a compilation of some of the best-known Zarzuelas. You will hear two of Ruperto Chapí’s most popular works, El Tambor de Granaderos and La Revoltosa. From Amadeu Vives’ Bohemios, the Band will perform a historical transcription by Joan Lamote de Grignon. La Venta de los Gatos by José Serrano, is one of the Valencian composer’s most profound compositions. You will also be able to enjoy Gigantes y Cabezudos, by Manuel Fernández Caballero, where folklore takes center stage, and La Gran Vía, by Federico Chueca, a work that perfectly represents the comedy and exuberance of Zarzuela.
