British writer Ali Smith, author of the Seasonal Quartet comprising the novels Autumn, Winter, Spring and Summer (published in Catalan and Spanish by Raig Verd/Nórdica Libros), has carried out in this tetralogy an extraordinary literary narration of our times. Brexit, the pandemic, the CIE, post-truth and the climate crisis are some of the themes that permeate these texts, which, from the language of literature and fiction, are at the same time great chronicles of today's world. Can we overcome the distance between words and reality? What role does fiction play in the understanding of our own time?In this session there will be a screening of the audiovisual piece Why We Write (2021) by filmmaker Sarah Wood, in which Ali Smith pays tribute to the figure of George Orwell, and reflects on the shared vocation of making political writing into art.
The event will be held in Catalan and English with simultaneous translation from English to Catalan
