"Alcarràs" at Cinema Lliure a la Platja

Alcarràs, Carla Simón (Catalunya, 2022)

After eighty years of farming the same land, the Solé family gathers to harvest their last harvest together. In the words of its director: "This is a story about belonging to a land, to a place. A drama about perpetual generational tensions, overcoming old traditions and the importance of family unity in times of crisis."

Film will be screened in Catalan with English subtitles.

Before the feature films, there will be a music session by iCat and the screening of short films from the Nou Talent call, aimed at film students from Catalonia and Mallorca, professionals from the Mallorcan audiovisual sector; and in collaboration with FILMETS Badalona Film Festival, a festival of short films held annually in different theaters in Badalona, and with Conofest, a feminist, millennial and multidisciplinary film festival of shorts written and/or directed by women.

Screenings will begin at sunset sometime between 21:30 and 22:00, which will vary depending on the date. You should plan to arrive early and enjoy a the music session as you settle into your place. Keep in mind that food and chairs will not be provided, so make sure to pack something tasty and a blanket for a lovely beach picnic under the stars. You are encouraged to arrive early for a good seat close to the screen!
