Sam Wood's A Night at the Opera is a 1935 American comedy film starring the Marx Brothers (Groucho Marx, Harpo Marx and Chico Marx).
Giuseppe Verdi's Il trovatore, now presented at the Gran Teatre del Liceu under the direction of Àlex Ollé, goes through one of the Marx brothers' classic, that is able to combine their crazy farce with one of the most tragic works of the operatic genre.
Driven by an extravagant business sense, Groucho puts the great stars of the Milan Opera on a ship bound for New York. On board are also some stowaways: Harpo and Chico. Between the three of them they revolutionize the ship, organize a scandal in New York and turn the opening night into a madness that the world of opera will never forget.
