Metropolitan Culture Corner: Núria Graham

by

Welcome to the Metropolitan Culture Corner, hosted by musician and Metropolitan collaborator Tori Sparks. Our first interview is with Irish-Catalan singer-songwriter Núria Graham, the golden child of the summer music festival circuit and the prodigal daughter of the national press. She lets us in on her songwriting process, explains her thoughts on Joni Mitchell, and tells us how the local police are some of her biggest fans. Her new album, Marjorie, was released this past February on Primavera Sound’s record label. Núria plays an acoustic version of a song from the album, titled “Another Dead Bee.”

Next month: We sit down with award-winning poet, author, screenwriter and lyricist Carlos Zanón, who is also the commissar of the BCNegra literary festival. Although the MCC is usually filmed at Barcelona’s Hard Rock Café in Plaza Catalunya, the next interview will be a special edition filmed remotely, in order to respect the recommended coronavirus control precautions.
