Metropolitan Culture Corner: Carlos Zanón

Welcome back to the Metropolitan Culture Corner, hosted by musician and Metropolitan collaborator Tori Sparks. Our interview last month was with Irish-Catalan singer-songwriter Núria Graham. This month, we invite you to sit in on a special quarantine edition of the MCC with award-winning poet, author, screenwriter, lyricist, and commissar of the BCNegra literary festival, Carlos Zanón. He tells us the difference between writing a novel and helping rock stars finish a song and explains how the nightlife of Barcelona figures into his particular personal style. 

Next month: We sit down with rock photographer and co-founder of Enderrock magazine, Xavi Mercadé, who has photographed everyone from local bands to the Rolling Stones. When we say “everyone,” it’s not an exaggeration: Mercadé is so omnipresent on Barcelona’s music scene that he was officially dubbed “The Man Who is Always There” by the newspaper El Periódico.
