The economic model and the generation of wealth in the proverbial metropolis of the future is the central theme of day four in the “Barcelona Tomorrow” forum at the CCCB.
Over the past decades, the metropolis of Barcelona has set in motion a gradual process of the reconversion of its economy toward a model based on services, knowledge and innovation, and tourism. What direction should it take in the next decade? What corrections do we need to make to this model?
The Barcelona of 2030 will need to respond to key challenges, such as increasing the supply of quality employment without excluding the younger generations or eroding their job security, incorporating the social economy and the reduction of inequality into the city’s roadmap, evaluating a possible reindustrialisation and relocation of services, and attracting high-growth companies and businesses.
The fourth day in the participatory forum “Barcelona Tomorrow” is organized by the Barcelona Metropolitan Strategic Plan, curated by Pilar Conesa and Elena Costas, and coordinated by Marc Garcia, it includes three roundtable debates with local and international experts, and it will end with a conversation moderated by the University. Attendance is free with advance registration.
