Sean Shibe believes that "the guitar is to the lute what the piano is to the harpsichord." He takes seventeenth-century manuscripts and remodels them, applying an informed but critical and culturally sensitive approach. This approach is then applied to Spanish musical tradition, such as in Frederic Mompou’s Suite Compostelana in six movements: “Preludio,” “Coral,” “Cuna,” “Recitativo,” “Canción,” and “Muñeira,” based on Galician folk songs. The recital closes with a new piece by English composer Thomas Adès.
