A funny old world

Barcelona’s, and indeed the world’s, only multilingual comedy festival returns this month. There’ll be comedians performing shows in six different languages—English, Catalan, Castilian, Swedish, Dutch and Italian—and a new edition of Logan Murray’s comedy workshop for all budding stand-ups. Younger comedy aficionados will be entertained by the Blue Mango Theatre company’s interactive show for seven to 12 year olds, The Loch Ness Monster (28th, 5pm, Sala Almazen).

The main event will be a funnyman face-off between Jason Byrne (now officially the biggest selling act at the Edinburgh fringe) and Adam Hills. Taking place on the evening of the match between Barça and Real Madrid, it will be a night of rivalries. Although whether Byrne and Hills can come up with something as comical as a 6-2 scoreline is doubtful (28th, 7pm, Tradicionarius).

Finally, to help you get the most out of the festival and really enjoy the humour, here are some words and phrases that you might hear:
