La Rambla
The famous street (and side streets) that cannot be missed. Winding down to the port from Plaza Catalunya, and infamous for its bird sellers, street performers, flower stalls and of course its open markets; specifically La Boqueria, where colourful stacks of fruits and vegetables are piled next to herbs, meats, cheese and fish stands. Gelato and fruit juice as well as unique candies are also sold. Wind your way through the side streets for a more unique and personalized shopping experience—boutiques, vintage stores, and antique shops are literally around every corner as the rent is lower off the main La Rambla. Don’t be afraid to explore, most streets lead back to La Rambla or to another main plaza. Keep wallets somewhere safe as pickpockets are known to join the throngs.

Passeig de Gràcia
The main street in the classy and upscale Eixample district, where high-end designer names like Chanel, Ferragamo, Valentino, Jimmy Choo and Hermes abound. Also known for housing Gaudí’s Modernist creations, Casa Battló and the famous Casa Milà, fondly known as La Pedrera, which is open for daily tours. Multiple retail chains like Zara and H&M can be found as well as mid-priced classics. Check out El Corte Ingles if you’re missing the familiar brands from home, but try to resist as there is a wealth of fine shopping to be done in Barcelona, and Spanish designers are popular. On Passeig de Gràcia, plenty of restaurants line the street, and if you continue the walk you will wind up at Plaza Catalunya, a park-like plaza that leads to La Rambla.

Rambla Catalunya
A quieter, slightly greener version of Passeig de Gràcia, thanks to the tree-lined streets, is a pleasant stroll for those looking for high-fashion names and Spanish luxury brands. The fact that it runs parallel with Passeig de Gràcia makes it easy to go back and forth between the two for an excellent shopping extravaganza or just a bit of window cruising amongst the impressive Modernist buildings.
