Oriana de Michele and Rebecca Hemmings: Cubick

Cubick is a small business created by co-owners Oriana de Michele (Italian) and Rebecca Hemmings (English) that offers specific tailored corporate accommodation and event services to international travellers coming to Barcelona and Cannes although they also work in other European cities from time to time.

Where did the original idea come from? We were working in the same industry for another company but felt we could provide a more streamlined service to provide clients with a complete service for complete satisfaction.

How long did it take to get your business off the ground? We have been established for five years now and we had loyal clients with us from the beginning that knew us and relied on our personal service and expertise.

What do you wish you’d known when you started? We managed to start a business at the beginning of the crisis—not the best time but we have made it work.

How easy was it get the financing for your business? We didn’t need any financing.

Did you find the paperwork difficult? Not so easy in Spain.

What is your business experience / background / qualifications? Oriana previously worked for the Chamber of Commerce in China managing a large team and organising events. Rebecca was working in various institutions in England and also for a large tour operator organising package tours around the globe for discerning travellers.

What are the positive aspects about having a business here? Our clients like to have someone on-site so we can go and check out the venues, hotels or apartments and we always deliver transparent information so when the client arrive we greet them in person and welcome them to Barcelona.
