InterNations' tenth anniversary

On October 7th 2017, InterNations, the largest international community for people who live and work abroad, celebrated its ten-year anniversary. Since its inception, InterNations has grown into a network of 2.8 million members worldwide, offering global networking opportunities and valuable information for expats, and many hosting local events. Their aim is to 'make the expat life a great experience' and they have seemingly been quite successful in doing so. Nowadays, InterNations Communities are present in 390 cities around the globe and hold over 4000 events on a monthly basis. It therefore seemed fitting that this important milestone celebration had a very ambitious goal: the world’s longest birthday party, where InterNations Communities around the world, from Auckland to Honolulu, celebrated on the same date.

The InterNations Barcelona community contributed greatly to the anniversary celebration by creating an unforgettable night for both expats and locals of the city. Today, InterNations Barcelona comprises 32,900+ members and holds at least four major events per month.

For this tenth anniversary celebration, InterNations chose the unique, urban resort in Barcelona, Fairmont Rey Juan Carlos I. The stylish hotel opened its doors and botanical gardens to welcome over 400 guests to the party.

Those who attended were pleasantly surprised by the creative decorations provided by Codorniu, the beautifully designed sweets by Fairmont, and festive music provided by the hotel's resident DJ, Alex Louis. The event was also promoted and sponsored by Barcelona Metropolitan. The highlight of the evening was the birthday raffle, where 12 lucky winners went home with valuable gifts, such as a pair of VIP  tickets to watch FC Barcelona from a reserved, private area complete with catering and drinks sponsored by Eqlipz, a company specialising in creating unique experiences linked to the best sporting and leisure events worldwide. There was also a very special prize courtesy of the host, Fairmont Rey Juan Carlos I - a two-night luxury experience with gastronomic dinner at the B·24 restaurant and access to the Royal Club Fitness & Spa.

While InterNations Barcelona is planning their future upcoming expat events, the Fairmont is preparing for the festive season with many promotions and events to enjoy.
