George Floyd: A Former Police Officer Shares Her View

Protests supporting the Black Lives Matter movement, denouncing police brutality and demanding widespread change surge across the US as stories about police brutality continue to surface across the nation.

In response to the protests in the US and around the world ignited by the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police officers, Sandra Regalado interviews former police officer Gwen Wilson to get her perspective on what happened. 

Wilson, who was an officer for 22 years with the LASD (Los Angeles Sheriff's Department) shares her insights on the death of George Floyd and covers related topics, including racism and sexism in the police force, how prospective applicants are screened, police training procedures and the infamous “blue code of silence” that exists within the system.


Sandra Regalado is a video producer, editor, reporter and writer from New York. She has lived in Barcelona for the past 12 years.  

Gwen Wilson is a former police officer with 22 years of experience working with the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department. She is now retired and has been living in Barcelona for one year.
