
Workshops, guided tours, live music and, of course, the city’s best exhibitions—on May 17th, La Nit dels Museus returns, with over 90 museums across the city opening their doors for free from 19:00 until 1:00 in the morning! From Montjuïc to the Museu Blau and everywhere in between, culture vultures can get their fill of all the best the city's museums have to offer. Here’s our pick of the top spots to get your culture fix on the night. (Just remember that due to limitations on capacity, advance reservations are required at many places!)
This year, there are new six spaces on the list that didn’t participate in last year’s Nit dels Museus event: Museu de les Aigües, the Palau Mercader, the Museu d’Història de la Immigració de Catalunya (MhiC), the Fundació MAPFRE, Casa Batlló and the Espai Moja. Biblioteca Pública Arús
Passeig de Sant Joan 26, 08010 BarcelonaLovers of culture, history and society will find a true haven of peace at the Biblioteca Pública Arús. Set up by the philanthropist, free-thinker and pro-Catalan liberal Rossend Arús, the library opened to the public in 1895 and has become a research center specializing in contemporary social movements (mainly labor organizations and freemasonry) and books published in the 19th and early 20th centuries. When it opened, the library’s collection consisted of some 24,000 volumes that encompassed all the fields of knowledge of the day, including philosophy, religion, social sciences, law, languages, biology, botany, medicine, art, music, literature, geography and history. This highly prized collection survives almost intact today and bears witness to the age when the library was founded. Free entry on Saturday, May 17, 2025, 19:00-1:00. CaixaForum Barcelona

In addition to free access to its exhibits Uncertain Times, Germany Between Wars and Out of Frame. Works by Rineke Dijkstra and Philippe Parreno you can enjoy exhibit tours, childrens’ activities and a cycle of "microconcerts" with a wide variety of musical styles ranging from jazz to classical music, swing, electronica and world music. Casa Batlló Gaudi Museum Barcelona
Passeig de Gràcia 43, 08007 BarcelonaEnjoy an immersive experience through the architectural genius of Antoni Gaudí; explore the noble floor, the main space where the Batlló family lived, the recently restored back patio, the fascinating courtyard of lights, the emblematic attic known as the “belly of the dragon” and the iconic roof with its famous chimneys. The visit includes the access staircase renovated by the Japanese architect Kengo Kuma and the LED Cube, an immersive installation that completes this modernist experience. Castell de Montjuïc

Discover hidden corners of the castle on a tour through dungeons and old barracks, and when you're ready for a break grab a snack at the gastronomical space in the courtyard. After checking out the castle’s visitor center and temporary exhibition, you can drink in the some of the best views of the city at night from the castle's terrace. No prior registration required, access to the castle is free on Saturday, May 17, 2025, 19:00-1:00. A shuttle bus service will run uninterruptedly from 21:00 until 1:30 between Rius i Taulet Avenue, 15 and Montjuïc Castle, with the last drop off at 1:30.

Centre Martorell d’Exposicions

Museu Palau Mercader

Museu Picasso

Palau Güell
Carrer Nou de la Rambla 3-5, 08001 BarcelonaPalau Güell is one of the first important assignments Antoni Gaudí received at the beginning of his career. Eusebi Guell, industrialist, politician and patron, wanted Gaudí to build this peculiar urban palace as an extension of the family home he had on the Rambla de Barcelona. It is a magnificent example of domestic architecture of the period. In addition to free entry, the evening will be rounded out with a number of short concerts.
