Dedicated to Antoni Santiburcio i Moreno, the Andalusian politician and trade unionist based in Sant Andreu, the park is located on the site of the former Sant Andreu Barracks.
Paved with sandstone and multicolored asphalt, the park offers seating, an esplanade, an aromatic flowerbed, a wooded area with exercise areas and a fountain with 234 springs and LED lighting. The park's sustainable drainage system incorporates three gravel wells to improve runoff and drainage.
It was the first public fountain area built as a climate shelter in the city, however on August 30, 2018, just two weeks after the inauguration of the space, the source was closed due to the outbreak of 12 cases of gastroenteritis.
Children's Water Play Area
In June 2026, the city reopened the fountains as a children's water play area, along with eight other new installations throughout the city to offer a bit of relief from rising summer temperatures.
Children can activate the jocs d'aigua (water play areas) by pressing a device that makes the water flow for under five minutes. The circuits work by means of a push button that prevents a new cycle of jets from being activated until the previous one has concluded, minimizing the volume of water used. Operational from 10:00 to 20:00 during the months of June to September, the play areas are recommended for children from age five and up. Shoes are required, and pets are prohibited.
The water games are part of the city's Heat Plan strategy to adapt the city to high temperatures and protect the most vulnerable people from rising temperatures. These spaces belong to the Barcelona Climate Shelter Network and they also form part of the Game Plan, which provides infrastructure that offers children and adolescents greater opportunity for outdoor play. These improved outdoor areas promote physical activity, emotional well being and social cohesion in the neighborhoods.
