The Museu Diocesà of Barcelona is situated in the square of the Catedral de Barcelona, in the Pia Almoina building, which includes a section of the 4th century Roman walls and tower. A series of exhibits spanning the Roman, Visigothic and medieval periods to the 21st century brings together a collection of more than 3,000 objects, including sculptures, paintings, silverware and goldware, ceramics and religious clothing.
Founded in 1916, the museum moved to its current location, and was opened to the public, in 1991. The three-story exhibition space also hosts temporary shows on a variety of themes highlighting the relationship between faith and culture.
