Framed between Carrer Taxdirt, Carrer Marina, Carrer Lepant and Travessera de Gràcia, the Baix Guinardó Gardins are a green space in the heart of Baix Guinardó. The center of the is taken up by a gravel esplanade which includes a children’s play area, a dog park, ping-pong tables and a bar with tables under the pines. On one side is a large artificial lake with a row of islets crossing from one side to the other where model boat enthusiasts often sail their tiny ships.
The highest part of the garden features white cedars and on the terraces there are bushes and shrubs. The picnic area has pine trees to ensure good shading and a large esplanade dominated by Canary Islands palms. The lake is surrounded by plane trees, while oleanders, bougainvilleas and blue jasmine provide color.
Children's Water Play Area
In June 2026, the city installed a children's water play area in the park along with eight other new installations throughout the city to offer a bit of relief from rising summer temperatures.
Children can activate the jocs d'aigua (water play areas) by pressing a device that makes the water flow for between one and two minutes. The circuits work by means of a push button that prevents a new cycle of jets from being activated until the previous one has concluded, minimizing the volume of water used. Operational from 10:00 to 20:00 during the months of June to September, the play areas are recommended for children from age five and up. Shoes are required, and pets are prohibited.
The water games are part of the city's Heat Plan strategy to adapt the city to high temperatures and protect the most vulnerable people from rising temperatures. These spaces belong to the Barcelona Climate Shelter Network and they also form part of the Game Plan, which provides infrastructure that offers children and adolescents greater opportunity for outdoor play. These improved outdoor areas promote physical activity, emotional well being and social cohesion in the neighborhoods.
