Here it comes! Summer is just around the corner and many are thinking it’s time to start operación bikini. If you’re carrying around a few extra kilos and you’re keen on doing a little pre-summer planning to get yourself back in shape, you may be asking yourself what the best approach is. You want to look and feel great in your bathing suit when summer officially arrives, but after what seems like an eternity of confinement and restricted movement, who really wants to sweat it out in a crowded gym?
We asked Dr. Noemi Gonzalez of Turó Park Clinics what her suggestions are for getting that body beach-ready.

1. Make Your Diet Healthier
Eating a healthy, balanced diet is one of the most important things you can do to protect your health and get (or stay) in shape. And, it’s not so complicated to achieve. Basically, the key to a healthy diet is to eat the right amount of calories for how active you are so you balance the energy you consume with the energy you use.
But weight management is more than calories in and calories out.You should also eat a wide range of foods to make sure you're getting a balanced diet and your body is receiving all the nutrients it needs.
Here are five easy tips to start eating healthy this season:
- Eat lots of fruits and vegetables.
- Choose whole foods instead of processed.
- Cut down on saturated fat and sugar.
- Eat more fish.
- Drink plenty of water and avoid sugary drinks.
If you need support with weight loss, and more specifically with meal planning, grocery lists and recipes as well as suggestions for local stores to shop at, feel free to contact Dr. Noemi Gonzalez for nutritional advice.

2. Exercise Daily
Losing weight is about burning more calories than you take in. So, in addition to a healthy diet, you should exercise daily if you want to reach your goal and stay healthy. Any type of activity is good for you. The more you do the better.
If you’re not used to working out regularly, start small with something you can do, like Nordic walking, yoga or Pilates. Experts suggest that you get between 150 and 250 minutes of moderate to vigorous exercise each week to lose weight. That's roughly 22 to 35 minutes of exercise per day, which is totally manageable.

If you’re already working out regularly, you can increase the intensity of your workouts, or try a more vigorous activity like running or skipping rope. In general, 75 minutes of vigorous intensity activity can give similar health benefits to 150 minutes of moderate intensity activity.
Of course, it’s important to make sure the type and intensity of your activity is appropriate for your level of fitness.

3. Give Yourself a Confidence Boost with Esthetic Medicine or Plastic Surgery
If you need a little extra help in order to look slim and sexy in a swimsuit, you can also consider the following body procedures:
- Mesotherapy: Turó Park uses medical active components injecting them in the skin with very small needles in order to correct local fat depots or cellulite-looking-skin.
- Carboxitherapy: The use of injected medicinal CO2 can improve skin elasticity and reshape ugly fat bumps, scaring and striae through the production of new collagen.
- Liposuction: A plastic surgery technique for remodeling the body contour and removing subcutaneous fat in specific locations.
- Autologous fat transfer: A surgical “sculpture” intervention that transforms your silhouette using your own fat tissue which is aspirated from undesired areas and used to restore volume where needed.
If you’re considering esthetic procedures, please feel free to book an appointment with Dr. Noemi Gonzalez, Turó Park’s plastic surgeon; she speaks English, French and German. She is available to comprehensively discuss all possible medical treatments with you and provide you with all the information you need to make the best-informed decision.
