The British School of Barcelona, accredited as one of the best British schools in the world, has opened the doors of a new campus in the heart of Barcelona. Founded in 1958, The British School of Barcelona (BSB) has a proud well-established reputation for providing an all-through, world-class international education to children from early years to pre-university from more than 60 nationalities and cultures.
With campuses in Castelldefels and Sitges, in September 2021 the school opened the BSB City campus in a Modernist building in the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi district of Barcelona.
One of the Best British Schools in the World
In October 2021 The British School of Barcelona was rated as an “Outstanding School in every Category.” This is the highest recognition that an international educational center can receive and is the conclusion reached following the latest British Schools Overseas (BSO) inspection.
The inspection report released by Penta International, an independent inspectorate body accredited by the English Department for Education (DfE), graded BSB as one of the best British schools in the world. The report highlighted the quality of education provided, the strong sense of community among staff, students and families and the global educational standards of the school. This achievement places BSB as the only school in Catalunya to have gained this prestigious accreditation. Only four other schools in mainland Spain are currently recognized as outstanding by BSO.
BSB City, a Spectacular Project in Barcelona
The BSB City foundation campus that opened in September 2021 for early years and primary age children is the first step of the spectacular BSB City project, which will culminate with the opening of the BSB City main campus in September 2023 as an all-through first-class international school in the city of Barcelona.
The BSB City main campus will be located just within a 10-minute walking distance from the foundation campus (near John Kennedy Square) and will offer an outstanding 21st century educational experience to students from early years to pre-university (three to 18 years) in an innovative, international setting.
With 5,500 square meters of indoor space and 1,200 square meters of outdoor space, the main campus will have a capacity for 750 students. It will provide top class learning spaces, including science labs, workshop areas, an art room and common student areas. It will also offer first-rate, spacious sport facilities, both on-site and off-site and fantastic public transport connection, including school bus service.
Upon reaching pre-university education, students will be able to choose between the British curriculum or the International Baccalaureate, along with the validation of Spanish certificate, the same educational offer as the school currently offers at their pre-university campus BSB Nexus in Castelldefels.
