Facing the sea and just steps from Nova Icària Beach, Barcelona’s Port Olímpic has undergone a complete transformation. Once a tourist hotspot filled with nightclubs, the port now offers an extensive public space with squares, viewing points, a promenade, green spaces and three new entrances open to the Vila Olímpica neighborhood and its beaches.
The redesigned waterfront features recreational areas devoted to sailing, the blue economy and local cuisine; at the heart of this renewal is El Balcó Gastronòmic, a new culinary destination that reflects Barcelona’s dynamic, vibrant spirit.

Architecture Designed for the Sea
Designed to feel open and connected to the sea, El Balcó Gastronòmic is spread over two levels. Above, restaurants are perched on an extended balcony that reaches out over the sea, offering breathtaking views. Below, spacious terraces and outdoor seating along the waterfront provide direct access to the beach and connect to the new Dic de Recer promenade. An impressive photovoltaic pergola creates a shaded oasis that provides respite from the heat while also powering much of the port’s energy needs, contributing to its strong sustainability profile.
Port Olímpic has fully reemerged as a vibrant, dynamic space that reconnects the city with its waterfront. Its improved accessibility, modern infrastructure and a wide range of culinary, cultural, sporting and family-friendly experiences have revitalized the neighborhood, welcoming locals and visitors alike.
