Next week, we’ll start the 2024 fall season with an interview with film producer and visual artist Mara Adina. Born in Transylvanian, Romania, she now splits her time between London and Barcelona.
She and her sister founded the film and documentary production company Vernon Films in 2012. Their primary focus was to push the boundaries of hybrid filmmaking and collaborate with creative voices who seek to devise new ways of telling a story; since then, their projects have been film festival favorites and streamed on all the major streaming platforms.
Aside from her success in the world of cinema, Mara is also an abstract painter. Mara’s first solo exhibition was here in Barcelona this past spring, titled Feel with Abandon, and she’s currently at work on her next show.
Last time, we interviewed soul singer Clarence Bekker known for his powerful voice and interactive live shows. While he has been involved in a number of musical formations he’s best known for his participation in the international project and non-profit organization Playing for Change. It took him on the road all over the globe, and the project’s videos have racked up over 200 million views. Today, he’s known as the face of the Clarence Bekker Band, which has toured Brazil, Morrocco, Japan, Italy, Spain, Australia and beyond.
