Another kind of guitar hero
Perhaps there is no more popular and moving instrument than the guitar. Preserving its legacy and enlarging its legend is an ongoing venture many musicians undertake.
In flamenco, guitar and dance are deeply intertwined by culture and by their expressive qualities. The ensemble formed by Juan Agüero and Carmen Amaya is an example of how this instrument is able to merge so poetically with dancing. His guitar and the heels of her shoes spread the finest of their art around half the world.
In this short documentary, we recorded José Andrés Cortés at Tablao de Carmen in Barcelona, paying homage to Juan Agüero and his guitar—an instrument from 1929 that keeps alive a flamenco legend. A legend that for many years artists have carried all over the world.
