This magnetic choreography is more than a dance piece: it’s a journey, an emotional, physical and political experience that connects endangered ecosystems and human struggles.

Before the show begins, you will be invited to immerse yourself in the spirit of the forest, stepping on leaves, listening to the drums. It is an introduction to the penumbra of the forest in which the show takes place, starring bodies that intertwine and contort and that tell a story of domination and abuse through dance. The deforestation that threatens Central Africa and the struggles of the peoples who inhabit it go hand in hand in this show by Cameroonian-born choreographer and dancer Zora Snake, who sees choreography as an exercise in revolt and demands for justice. This choreography was born in the heart of the jungle, where the members of the company were immersed in the rhythms and movements of the Baka community. Seven performers dance energetically to shamanic sounds and electronic beats in a cathartic ceremony that also involves the audience at the end.

Dancer and choreographer Zora Snake (his real name is Tejeutsa or “person with great empathy” in the Yemba language) is a Cameroonian artist, founder of the Compagnie Zora Snake and considered one of the most fascinating contemporary artists on the scene straddling Africa and Europe. His choreographies include Je suis, Transfrontalier, Les masques tombent, L’opéra du villageois, with an anti-colonial theme, and Shadow survivors, about Cameroon’s war of independence.
