Andy Platts and Shawn Lee need no introduction, each having amassed a long musical pedigree, whether it be Andy’s career as a world-renowned songwriter, singer, composer and guitarist with British soul band Mamas Gun, or Shawn’s prestigious work as a producer, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter, which has placed him at the forefront of the global soul and funk community.

In addition to their own projects, they are both in-demand songwriters for superstar artists such as Take That, where they wrote and co-produced the title track for their latest album, This Life, which reached number one, as well as writing and producing several songs for James Morrison’s upcoming album. Andy has also been working with rising British star MT-Jones, writing songs for his debut album, while Shawn has toured the world playing drums and serving as musical director for the legendary Asha Puthli.

The duo’s fifth studio album, Pleasure, showcases a band at the top of their game, honing their potent blend of sun-soul pop, West Coast AOR, and effortless groove with a knack for songwriting and production that takes them on a musical path filled with blue skies and positive vibes. The most important factor for the duo is to always focus on the songs, trying to be as concise as possible, with influences from Steely Dan, Earth Wind & Fire, Bobby Caldwell and Paul McCartney. In a world of uncertainty and rapid change, it’s no surprise that YGSF’s fanbase has grown significantly in recent years as people seek solace in familiar sounds from the past. However, it’s not just the older generation that is being swept away by the sun-soaked yacht rock sound; there’s also a growing fanbase among the younger generation, something the band has significantly noticed at their gigs. YGSF offers a glimpse into a world of carefree extravagance, where people spend their days cruising, sipping cocktails and enjoying good company. It's a world that seems a thousand miles away from the challenges facing younger generations today, offering an imaginary escape from everyday anxiety.
