José Ramón Garrido is a former Olympic badminton player who makes a living teaching physical education in a public high school in Vallecas. Divorced and disillusioned, he believes he has discovered at a school tournament the diamond that could turn his life around. Mar, a teenage player who could be the ticket to fulfilling his dream of competing in Yakarta. Together, they will have to learn to put up with each other to embark on a journey full of shabby guesthouses, run-down sports centers and gas stations before reaching the capital of Indonesia.
After the excellent reception of Celeste by both audiences and critics, Diego San José, as creator, and Elena Trapé, as director, team up again, this time with Javier Cámara and Carla Quílez as the leads. Yakarta is a tribute to all those people who lose even when they win, with two wonderful protagonists who share the wound of abandonment, of failure, and of having nowhere to go.
The session will include a screening of the first three episodes, with the presence of Javier Cámara (actor), Carla Quílez (actress), Diego San José (creator and director), and Elena Trapé (director).
A screening in the 2025 edition of Serielizados Fest.
