World Press Photo is the best-known photojournalism exhibition worldwide, bringing together all the winners of the World Press Photo photography and digital narrative competitions.
Chosen for their exceptional visual quality, the exhibition presents all the prize-winning photographs and multimedia pieces which offer different perspectives on global current affairs—the majority of which are unpublished in Spain.
The World Press Photo Foundation has announced all the nominees for the World Press Photo 2021 awards both in the photo contest and in the digital narrative contest. The winners will be announced on April 15. Four Spanish authors are among the nominees, including the Photo of the Year: Luis Tato from Barcelona, Aitor Garmendia from the Basque Country, Jaime Culebras from Extremadura and Claudia Reig from Valencia. Pablo Tosco, an Argentinian photojournalist living in Barcelona, has also been nominated.
The Barcelona experience goes beyond the mere observation of the winning works, as they are complemented with a carefully chosen program of parallel activities open to the public, designed to generate debate and to examine in greater depth the themes of the winning projects. Furthermore, there are also a series of especially highly recommended guided tours, aimed at schools, companies and the general public, which will enrich the understanding of the exhibits and offer enlightenment regarding the values and challenges of photojournalism today.
