In their exploration of musical repertoires that extend beyond the traditional repertoire of the musician from Igualada, Jordi Savall and his team briefly step away from music from the Baroque and Classical periods to focus on the works of Felix Mendelssohn. In the pieces in this program, the German composer embraces a romantic spirit that seeks an aesthetic experience of the sublime as he explores the world of legends or the natural landscapes of Scotland (Third Symphony) and Germany (First Walpurgis Night) with echoes of poems by Goethe, the epitome of German literary Romanticism following the Sturm und Drang movement. A veritable musical and literary feast from musicians who always go beyond the pentagrams to offer us a holistic artistic experience.
