The inception of the women's stage race in the Catalonia Cycling Tour marks a significant evolution from the previous reVolta, a one-day event held four times—2018 in Barcelona, and from 2021 to 2023 in Sant Cugat del Vallès.
Spanning three days from June 7th to 9th, this revamped race now ascends to the UCI 2.1 category, allowing participation from up to seven UCI Women's World Tour teams, alongside UCI Women's Continental Teams and national teams like the Catalan Massi-Baix Ter or the official Catalan team.
Featuring three diverse stages traversing much of the Catalan landscape, including one with a challenging summit finish, the race occupies a strategic calendar slot, appealing to riders eyeing competitions like the Giro Donne or the Tour de France Femmes. The Tour of Catalonia's women's stage promises to showcase the rich diversity of Catalan geography: Commencing from Manresa, European City of Sport 2024, the race journeys to the Pyrenees for a mountainous second stage, starting from La Seu d'Urgell and concluding at La Molina station. The third stage explores the Barcelona Coast's interior, culminating in a thrilling finale from Molins de Rei to Barcelona.
