Vertical Montserrat is a vertical race that runs along the service stairs between the two Montserrat funiculars, consisting of 2,180 steps in total and a climb of 765 meters. It's the first vertical staircase race in Spain and is among the toughest on the world circuit.

It is a unique, epic race, created and organized by the Bombers of the Generalitat together with the Obra Social de San Juan de Dios, with the support of Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya, the Abbey and the Patronato de Montserrat, all in support of research and social care projects for children at risk in the Sant Joan de Déu medical centers.
