Austrian cellist Valerie Fritz is an indefatigable explorer. Every one of her concerts offers an electrifying experience that leaves a lasting impression on all who attend, In them we travel through the network of interrelationships that connects music from different eras.
Fritz’s Festival Emergents appearance will create a dialogue between the music of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Suite No. 2 for Cello and classics from the contemporary cello repertoire such as Salvatore Sciarrino’s Ai limite della notte, the second movement of the Sonata for Cello by György Ligeti and Two Poems to Polly by Peter Eötvös. She will extend this dialogue to the present day with the newly created works Fernambuk by the cellist and composer Matthias Bartolomey, Mood by Arturo Fuentes and a piece commissioned jointly by L’Auditori and ECHO from the composer Jennifer Walshe.
