This interactive performance draws on the panoptic structure of La Model prison and explores ideas of transition through suggestion, accompaniment, consent and care.
The creation offers an immersive experience in which the audience may become actively involved in the unfolding events. Through guided and negotiated invitations, it shifts the relationship between observer and observed, exposure and control, and caregivers and care receivers. In doing so, it creates a shared space where connections emerge in real time.
The work is shaped by reflections on the changing nature of the gaze of punishment: from the public spectacle of the exposed body in the square to more invisible, internalised systems of control, such as those embodied by the prison, and especially the panopticon, designed to create the constant sense of being watched.
Within this loaded context, hypnosis is proposed as a practice of accompaniment and suggestion, and as an invitation to shared imaginative journeys and states of transition. Accompanying, suggesting, exposing oneself, surrendering, and protecting oneself are explored as forms of (self-)care.
Performance will be in English, Spanish and Catalan.
