This seminar discusses experiences of managing tourist activity that are being tried in several European cities in order to reduce its impact and promote a more sustainable approach. Speakers include public representatives from such well-known tourist destinations as Barcelona and Venice, members of European networks and institutions, and experts and researchers in the area of inclusive, sustainable tourism.
Is it possible to evolve towards a model of urban tourism that emphasizes environmental protection and the well-being of local communities? With an increasing number of areas that are suffering the tensions of tourism in aspects like access to housing or consumption of natural resources, sustainable management of this phenomenon is one of the priorities on the agendas of European cities. On the occasion of the meeting in Barcelona of European members of the Urban Agenda for Sustainable Tourism, this seminar brings together experts from different fields to discuss models for managing tourist activity today.
Event will be held in English and Catalan with simultaneous translation from English to Catalan.
