Tori Sparks and guitarist Joan Hernandez “Pichi” present an acoustic set on a Sunday evening at the coolest new jazz club in the city. 1920s elegance meets modern concepts in mixology in an intimate setting. The show will be followed by Velvet Room’s weekly jazz jam session — you won’t want to miss it!
Born in Chicago, Sparks later lived and recorded in Nashville, and has been based in Barcelona for the past dozen years. She founded her own label, Glass Mountain Records, in 2007. Known as a force of nature onstage, she plays an average of 150 concerts each year and has toured in 24 countries, including festivals such as the Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland) and the festival Jardins Pedralbes (Spain).
Her last four albums are a surprising mix of her native folk, rock, blues and roots music with flamenco fusion, called "a flawless fusion of styles" (La Vanguardia), "adventurous, pushing the envelope" (Rolling Stone) and “pure art” (Los Conciertos de Radio3).
