Researcher Benedetta Bolognesi and philosopher Begoña Román discuss scientific advances in delaying aging and explore the challenges and limitations of a society that will live longer and longer.
In a society that associates beauty with youth, the prospect of extending life invites us to rethink how we understand aging. Current research is unraveling some of the biological mechanisms that explain why we age and is exploring new strategies to preserve health and prevent neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s. But how far can science go? Can these advances transform our perspective on beauty, vulnerability, and the passage of time? In this session, in dialogue with the exhibition The Cult of Beauty, researcher Benedetta Bolognesi and philosopher Begoña Román explore the discoveries and uncertainties surrounding the biology of aging, as well as reflect on the ethical and social challenges of a society that will live longer and longer.
Event will be held in Catalan and English.
