Film still from "The Plague," directed by Charlie Polinger (Australia, UAE, USA, Romania, 2025).
Ben is an introverted boy who arrives at the camp, where relationships are governed by codes of power and exclusion. In order to fit in, he publicly adopts the group’s attitude and keeps his distance from the camper singled out as different, a boy suffering from a striking skin condition. Yet, away from the others’ gaze, guilt and concern lead him to take an interest in the boy, unable to fully turn away from his suffering.
Screened at Cannes and Sitges, and nominated for Best Feature, Best Breakthrough Performance, and Best Lead Performance at the Independent Spirit Awards, The Plague, Charlie Polinger’s debut feature, draws on the cruelty of adolescence to create an uneasy, raw, and tense atmosphere. Hovering between body horror and psychological terror, the film leaves no one indifferent.
Film will be screened in original version with subtitles in Spanish.
A film in the 2026 edition the Americana Film Festival.
