Life is a novel… Or a song.  In any case, Stephin Merritt has dedicated most of his life to transforming the very stuff of existence, with its epic peaks and muted valleys, into pure pop. Danceable, chamber, noisy: you name it, he’s tried it. No melodic declension is excluded from The Magnetic Fields’ style book. But the genius of Merritt and company lies not in amassing genres, but in turning each new swerve into an emotional milestone rather than a stylistic exercise. Their legion of fans continues to grow with them, embracing each chapter in their biography, but there is no doubt about the eternal magnetism of 69 Love Songs, their unforgettable 1999 album, the greatest love story ever sung.

The Magnetic Fields will celebrate the 25th anniversary of their greatest album with a two-night concert to remember in Barcelona. Merritt and company will perform 69 Love Songs in its entirety, spreading their almost three-hour set over the course of two consecutive nights: 4th and 5th September at Paral·lel 62.
